The Gun Rack
Had a great time at the @taranakilongrangeshooting Had a great time at the @taranakilongrangeshootingnz Ahititi LRC event. Finished 9th in Practical Class on Saturday, which I was happy with, as top 10 is kind of what I aim for. I'm sure I was probably knocked back a few spots today, but we'll see when the scores come out. Overall I was really impressed with some of the innovative stage design for this comp, and I was even more impressed with how quickly Graeme rolled out a Covid Level 2/3 response plan once we were able to check our phones yesterday evening. Hope the comp went as smoothly as possible with the modified structure today to maintain social distancing, etc.
Good shooting in tough conditions yesterday. @mizz Good shooting in tough conditions yesterday. @mizz_gunrack got 2nd place in magnum class at both 1000m and a mile, and I got tied 2nd in non-magnum at 1000m. Good yarns with the lads at camp last night, and slowly waking up now and getting ready for a day's shooting. Looks like it's going to be a stunning day. Thanks to Mark and @taranakilongrangeshootingnz for hosting us!
Same same, but different. Two heavy barreled Howa Same same, but different. Two heavy barreled Howa 6.5 Creedmoors going out the door today. Both with @nielsensonic Sonic 45 suppressors. One in a @southern_cross_small_arms TSP X chassis with side folder and MDT mag, and the other in a @grsriflestocks Bifrost.

Last minute reloading for the @taranakilongrangesh Last minute reloading for the @taranakilongrangeshootingnz Ahititi LRC. I'll be bringing out the 284 Win in its new stock and the 300 Win Mag for the long range shoot off on Friday evening. Looking forward to it, and then of course the main event on Saturday. @mizz_gunrack is shooting her new 6.5 Creedmoor and I'll be shooting the 260AI that has been my main comp gun for the past couple seasons.
Many of you will have met my wife Kassie at a comp Many of you will have met my wife Kassie at a comp, emailed with her about your orders, or seen her on our social media. She's been to a few field shoots this season and she's really getting into it. This is the 6.5 Creed we've built for her Practical Class comp gun. The 308 will be relegated to Hunter Class duties (and maybe some actual hunting). Kassie has started her own Instagram page, so follow her to see her updates on shooting, comps, and putting up with me. @mizz_gunrack
Kassie is working up her first load ahead of Ahiti Kassie is working up her first load ahead of Ahititi LRC. Unfortunately lockdown pushed out our range time, so it's gonna be a quick / rough one for now. In terms of components, I've selected a good mix of high quality and good availability in the current climate.

Long before I shot my first deer I visited my wife Long before I shot my first deer I visited my wife's family in the USA and had home made venison chili. I think I ate it every other meal for most of a week. Now it's one of my favourite easy meals to cook at home

It's taken a while for manufacturers to catch up o It's taken a while for manufacturers to catch up on what makes a really good 22lr rifle. I think the current generation of offerings are getting it right, with short barrel options, threaded barrels, tapped receivers, and some in centrefire footprints or crossover styling. This Tikka T1x build was released into the wild a couple weeks ago, assembled to client specification. Great setup ready for pest control or getting into competitions

The Gun Rack

My favourite die storage / bench accessory is still my Area 419 die holder, but I do like these Lee quick change bushing holders for my regularly used dies - and for clearing clutter off my bench ... See MoreSee Less
