An extremely simple, yet effective, set up. We started this build with a stainless steel Howa heavy barreled 1500 Mini action, chambered in .223 Rem with a 10 round magazine. To keep this platform stable and versatile, we added an Oryx monolithic chassis, and added a Harris-style bipod. Lastly, to make mounting your optics a breeze, we have topped this rifle off with a 20 MOA scope rail.
We anticipate this build could be equally useful in competition, or varminting from fixed positions. The recessed target crown and heavy barrel ensure maximum accuracy over large shot strings, and the 10 round magazine means you can get as many rounds down range as possible. The mini action makes for very fast cycling and combined with a 20″ barrel, keeps the overall package size down to a minimum.
Why buy a 223? Not only is it a very well supported cartridge, in terms of components and ballistic information, but with the law changes in New Zealand in 2019, there is a huge surplus of 223 ammo and reloading components, and companies such as Belmont and Ammo Direct will often have great deals on ammo, making it some of the cheapest centrefire shooting one can do.
The retail value of all items included is $1971.99. We’ve pulled it all together and then taken 10% off the price, saving you almost $200. Package price is $1779
